WEB DESK: In a candid conversation on former England captain Kevin Pietersen’s YouTube channel, The Switch, batting star Babar Azam shared his aspirations and reflections on his cricketing journey. The former captain revealed that his ultimate dream is to win a World Cup for Pakistan, a goal that continues to drive him forward.
The conversation took a lighthearted turn when Pietersen jokingly asked where he ranked on Babar’s list of favorite players, following AB de Villiers. Babar quipped, “Sixth, or maybe seventh,” prompting laughter from both.
When asked about his most memorable moment, Babar pointed to his leadership role in Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup. However, he also addressed the recent disappointments of reaching the finals of the T20 World Cup and Asia Cup but failing to clinch the titles. “I am human,” he stated. “Sometimes we fail, but the important thing is to stay focused.”
Despite the off-field banter, Babar’s on-field resolve remains clear. Acknowledging a recent dip in form, including a golden duck in the ongoing tri-series against Sri Lanka, a dismissal that tied him for the most T20I ducks, he pointed out his commitment to improvement. “I am working on enhancing my fitness,” he said. “When you are playing, the good times are very short. My aim is to win a trophy for my country, and I am working very hard for it.”
