ISLAMABAD: The Proteas clinched the two-Test series 1-0 after the first match ended in a draw. South Africa secured a 40-run victory over the West Indies in the final Test at Providence Stadium on Sunday.
In their second innings, the Proteas set a target of 263 runs, thanks to contributions from Kyle Verreynne (59 off 78), Aiden Markram (51 off 108), and Wiaan Mulder (34 off 71).
The West Indies struggled against South Africa’s bowlers and were dismissed for 222 runs. Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada each took three wickets, while Wiaan Mulder and Dane Piedt chipped in with two wickets apiece. Gudakesh Motie was the standout performer for the West Indies, scoring 45 runs, but his efforts were not enough to secure a win.

With this victory, South Africa has moved ahead of Pakistan in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings, currently holding a 38.89 percentage of points (PCT).
South Africa has eight more Test matches lined up in the WTC cycle, including two matches in Bangladesh in October and a home series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Pakistan, meanwhile, has a chance to regain their fifth position in the standings after their win against Bangladesh in the first Test. If they manage to sweep the series, they could even rise to third place.
Additionally, England and Sri Lanka are set to face off in a three-Test series. Sri Lanka is currently fourth in the WTC standings with a 50 PCT, while England is in sixth place with a 36.54 PCT.
