GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) police on Thursday said that they formed a special investigation team to probe the death of an 18-year-old girl whose body was found on the river side in the limits of Danyore police station.
In a statement, the police said they initiated an investigation after being informed on March 8 that a teenage girl, identified as Anara, 18, went missing from the Syedabad area of Danyore.
It said the family had been searching for the missing girl since March 8 when they reported her disappearance to the police station. The Senior Superintendent of Gilgit Police (SSP) met with the family and opened an investigation.

The police said during the inquiry, efforts were made to gather information using the woman’s phone records.
Meanwhile, a body of a girl was recovered from the river on March 26, whose identification was difficult to gauge due to prolonged exposure in water.
However an uncle of the missing girl identified the body as the missing Anara.
The police are considering the possibility of foul play and have ruled out suicide. The law enforcers ordered a post-mortem examination of the body. The police said samples of internal organs were sent to a forensic lab in Lahore for further analysis.
To conduct a thorough investigation, a special investigation team under supervision of additional superintendent Muhammad Murad has been formed to investigate the matter from all angles, the statement added.
