The fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland, is set to arrive in US theatres on July 31, marking a new chapter in Peter Parker’s story following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film sees Parker protecting New York City anonymously after the world forgets his identity due to Doctor Strange’s memory-erasing spell. As he embraces life as a full-time Spider-Man, he investigates a mysterious new threat while confronting an unexpected and potentially dangerous evolution of his superpowers.
The film reunites Holland with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, while also featuring Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.
Produced by Columbia Pictures, Marvel Studios and Pascal Pictures, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the 38th film in the MCU and the fourth film in the franchise led by Holland.
Ahead of its release, the film has generated significant buzz. According to WaveMetrix, its second trailer recorded 590.8 million views in its first week, making it the second-biggest trailer launch of all time. The first trailer had previously become the biggest trailer debut ever, surpassing one billion views in just four days.
Sony Pictures has also reported strong audience interest, with advance ticket sales reaching their highest first-day levels for any film in the past five years, since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The film is based on the Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O’Connor. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in theatres on July 31 as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
