April 6, 2026, marks the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, and Pakistan is celebrating this global event with immense pride and commitment. In his official message, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke on the powerful role of sports in uniting societies, fostering international cooperation, and inspiring individuals to achieve their best.
“Sports transcend borders and bring people together, creating a platform where determination, perseverance, and mutual respect thrive,” said the Prime Minister. He accentuated on the shared values in sports help promote collective development and prosperity by encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle and providing equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds.
PM Sharif also pointed out the specific importance of involving youth, especially female athletes, in sports. He noted that sports are a powerful tool for inclusion, offering young people the chance to grow their abilities while fostering unity across cultural and social divides. Moreover, sports help create a positive and promising environment for resolving mutual differences at the social level, paving the way for peaceful solutions to global challenges.
The government of Pakistan, under PM Sharif’s leadership, has shown a strong commitment to strengthening the nation’s sports infrastructure.
