Success in T20 World Cup hinges on teamwork, positive mindset: Babar Azam

ISLAMABAD: National cricket team captain Babar Azam, has said that winning the ICC trophy for Pakistan remains a dream yet to be fulfilled. He is hopeful that they will bring joy to the nation by clinching the T20 World Cup.

In a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) podcast, Babar Azam shared his excitement about participating in the T20 World Cup, highlighting the unique happiness that comes with representing the country in such a prestigious event. He emphasized that every player’s ultimate goal is to play in the World Cup.

Babar noted that while the aim is always to win the trophy, it requires playing exceptional cricket against all competing teams.

Reflecting on the team’s strong performances in the last two T20 World Cups, he acknowledged their inability to finish well in the semi-finals and finals. He assured fans that they have learned from those mistakes and will strive not to repeat them this time.

When asked about their strategy, Babar stressed the importance of effort, teamwork, and maintaining positive body language on the field. He believes that effective communication and a positive approach will yield favourable results.

Babar added that unity and defeating every team in the tournament are crucial for winning the T20 World Cup. He also mentioned the excitement of playing in America, viewing it as a new experience and opportunity.

He acknowledged the global anticipation for the Pakistan-India match, recognizing it as a nerve-wracking encounter. However, he emphasized that focusing on all matches, not just the one against India, is essential for success.

The Pakistani team recently arrived in Dallas, USA, from London after losing the T20 series against England. They will begin practice sessions today following a day’s rest. Pakistan’s opening match is against the host USA on June 6 in Dallas, followed by the highly anticipated clash with India in New York on June 9.
