Sugar price goes up in Karachi

KARACHI: The price of sugar in the Karachi wholesale market has increased by Rs3.50, bringing the total price to Rs150 per kilogram.

As a result of these price hikes, a 50-kilogram bag of sugar in the wholesale market now costs Rs7,500.

Midnight gift: Rs17.50 per litre hike in petrol price

Last night, The caretaker government, headed solely by Prime Minister Anwarulhaq Kakar,  announced its first major executive order by jacking up the prices of petrol and diesel by up to Rs17.50.

Based on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Finance Division issued a notification, increasing the new prices of petrol to Rs290.45 per litre and diesel by Rs20 per litre.

According to the notification, the price of diesel, which is used mostly by transport vehicles, has reached Rs293.40 per litre.
