Suicide attack outside Domel police station in Bannu leaves 10 dead, four injured

BANNU: A suicide attack targeting civilian areas outside the Domel police station in Bannu left at least 10 people dead and injured four others, security sources said on Friday.

According to officials, a suicide bomber carried out the attack outside the police station, deliberately targeting nearby civilian population. The victims included seven women, one child and two men.

Security sources said the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Rescue teams, along with local residents, were busy clearing debris from the site following the blast.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to eliminate any further threat.

Initial reports put the toll at five dead and 13 injured, including women and a child, though updated figures from security sources suggest the death toll has risen to 10.

Security officials said terrorists elements aimed to destabilise the peaceful environment of Bannu, adding that operations under the National Action Plan would continue until the complete elimination of “foreign-backed” militants.

Authorities said efforts are under way to restore normalcy in the area as investigation into the attack continue.
