Summary for increasing perks of KP cabinet members prepared

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur, has called a cabinet meeting of the 23-member provincial cabinet to be held on May 6 at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, where approval for an increase in perks for provincial ministers, advisors, and special assistants will be sought.

According to official documents, the administration department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prepared a summary for amending the Ministers, Allowances and Privileges Act 1975.

The summary recommends increasing the allocated funds for house rent subsidy and decoration from Rs500,000 to Rs1,000,000 and raising the rent of their residences from Rs70,000 to Rs200,000.

As per the summary prepared by the administration department, an additional Rs100,000 per month is proposed for the decoration and furnishing of ministers’ offices, including furniture, carpets, air conditioning, and refrigerators, raising the allocated funds up to ten lakh rupees.

It is stated in the summary that no increase has been made in the perks of cabinet members from 2014 until now, and due to the current inflation in the country, the government has taken this step.

The cabinet meeting will deliberate on a 15-point agenda, which includes approval for the budget for the current fiscal year and the purchase of 18 vehicles for judges, among other items.
