Summer school holidays in Punjab likely to be extended

LAHORE: The summer holidays in schools across Punjab are likely to be extended due to extreme weather conditions.
The schools are currently scheduled to reopen on August 15. However, due to the ongoing heatwave and heavy monsoon rains, the Punjab School Education Department is considering an extension of the holidays.
According to departmental sources, a proposal to extend the summer break until August 31 is under review.
The School Education Department has not yet made a final decision. Officials say the matter is under serious consideration, and a decision is expected in the coming days.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that consultations are underway and a final announcement will be made soon.
The schools in Punjab closed down for summer vacations on May 28.
According to the Met office hot and very humid weather is likely to persist in most parts of the country.
However, rain with wind and thundershowers are expected in upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir.
