The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) education department has announced the schedule for summer vacations in educational institutions across the province, with different timelines set for the summer and winter zones. According to the notification, primary schools in the summer zone will remain closed from June 1 to August 31. For middle, high, and higher secondary schools in the same zone, summer vacations will be observed from June 15 to August 16.

The education department also confirmed that all schools in the winter zone will observe summer holidays from July 1 to July 31. Officials said that summer camps will be arranged in schools during the vacation period in the summer zone to continue limited academic activities and reduce learning disruption.

During these camps, school timings have been adjusted. Primary and middle school classes will be held from 7:00am to 9:00am, while high and higher secondary schools will operate from 7:00am to 9:30am.

The summer zone in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa includes major plains districts such as Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Mardan, Swabi and other low-lying areas, where temperatures rise significantly during peak summer months. In contrast, the winter zone includes upper and cooler regions of the province, including Swat, Chitral, Dir and other mountainous districts, where climatic conditions differ and shorter summer breaks are usually scheduled.

The education department said the staggered vacation schedule is designed to accommodate the province’s diverse climatic conditions while ensuring continuity of basic learning through summer camp arrangements.
