Sunday weather: cold persists with rain, snow forecast up north

WEB DESK: Cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the country on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and light rain or snowfall forecast for northern regions, according to the weather outlook by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are likely to experience partly cloudy conditions, with light rain and light snowfall at a few places. In contrast, most other areas will remain cold and dry. Moderate to heavy fog is expected to affect the plains of Punjab, upper Sindh and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly during morning and night hours.
Going region by region, in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain cold and partly cloudy throughout the day.
Across Punjab, cold and dry conditions will dominate most districts. However, the Potohar region may see partly cloudy weather during the evening and night. Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas are expected to remain very cold, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of light rain or snowfall later in the day. Several central and northern districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara and Pakpattan, are likely to experience cold conditions, with fog affecting visibility in some areas.
In Sindh, cold and dry weather is forecast for most districts. Morning and nighttime fog is likely in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam, Mohenjodaro and Jacobabad.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also see cold and dry weather in most districts. However, Chitral, Swat, Dir, Kohistan, Battagram, Abbottabad and Mansehra, along with surrounding areas, are expected to remain partly cloudy with chances of light rain or snowfall. Fog is likely to affect Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan.
In Balochistan, cold and dry weather is expected in most districts, while northern areas of the province are likely to experience very cold and partly cloudy conditions.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are forecast to remain very cold and partly cloudy, with the possibility of light rain and light snowfall at a few locations.
