Live: Super blue moon lights up Pakistan skies

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan witnessed a rare super blue moon around 11:29 pm on Monday.

The super blue moon was visible across various cities in the country, including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad. However, in some cities, cloud cover made it difficult to witness the phenomenon.

Three more supermoons are expected to occur this year September 18, October 17, and November 15.

What is a supermoon?

A Supermoon occurs when the moon’s orbit brings it closest to Earth, making it appear up to 14 per cent larger and 30 per cent brighter than usual. However, this month’s Supermoon is particularly special as it coincides with a Blue Moon, a phenomenon steeped in historical intrigue.
