Surgery or diet? the truth behind Marriyum Aurangzeb’s viral photos

LAHORE: Social media users have been speculating about the appearance of Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb after photographs from recent wedding celebrations drew widespread attention online.

The images emerged during wedding events for Junaid Safdar, the son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, which became a major talking point on social media.

Discussions largely focused on the bride Shanzae Ali Rohail, Maryam Nawaz’s attire and jewellery, and the arrangements at the celebrations.

Alongside these conversations, photographs showing an apparent change in Marriyum Aurangzeb’s appearance prompted questions and mixed reactions among social media users.

On Monday, a journalist raised the issue during a meeting with Marriyum Aurangzeb’s mother, asking whether the visible change was linked to medical treatment, surgery or special preparations.

Responding to the questions, her mother Tahira Aurangzeb said Marriyum Aurangzeb had not undergone any surgery or medical procedure.

She said that her daughter had followed a strict diet over the past two to three months, resulting in weight loss.

According to her, the reduction in weight led to natural changes in facial features.

She said that the decision to lose weight was a personal one and was not linked to any event or public appearance.

The slimmer appearance, she said, had led to speculation that was unnecessary.

No further comment was issued by the family following the clarification.
