Susie Wiles diagnosed with breast cancer, will continue work for office: Trump

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump announced Monday that the White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with early-stage Breast Cancer but will continue working while undergoing treatment.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Wiles’ determination, saying: “Her strength and her commitment to continue doing the job she loves, and does so well, while undergoing treatment, tells you everything you need to know about her.”

Susan L Wiles, born May 14, 1957, is an American political consultant and lobbyist who has served as the 32nd White House chief of staff since January 2025. She made history as the first woman to hold the position.

Wiles graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1978 and began her career working for Congressman Jack Kemp. She later joined Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign and worked in the White House Office of Scheduling and Advance, as well as for Labor Secretary Raymond J Donovan.

Over the years, Wiles built a reputation as a skilled political strategist. She managed Rick Scott’s successful 2010 Florida gubernatorial campaign and briefly served as campaign manager for Jon Huntsman Jr.’s 2012 presidential bid.

She later became a key figure in Trump’s political operations, serving as Florida campaign chair for his 2016 presidential run and playing major roles in his fundraising, travel planning, and political endorsements. In 2022, she was named co-campaign manager for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign alongside Chris LaCivita.

Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, Wiles was appointed White House chief of staff and continues to serve in the role while undergoing treatment.
