Suspected Monkeypox patients escape during transfer from Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD:  Suspected cases of Monkeypox patients made a daring escape during their transfer from Islamabad Airport, raising concerns among health authorities.

According to reliable sources, these suspected Monkey pox patients had been deported from Libya and arrived in Islamabad via a special flight late in the evening on September 8. Among the passengers on the flight, four individuals were displaying symptoms consistent with Monkeypox.

Health authorities swiftly isolated the suspected patients during the screening process. Subsequently, a decision was made to transport the four individuals to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for further evaluation.

In accordance with standard protocol, forms for suspected cases were meticulously prepared, and the patients were loaded into an ambulance for transfer to PIMS. However, an alarming turn of events occurred when the suspected Monkeypox patients managed to escape from the ambulance shortly after departing the airport.

It is reported that the patients absconded with crucial information forms related to their cases. As of now, there has been no official statement from Border Health Services regarding the escape of these individuals.

The incident has sparked concerns among health officials and the public, as efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the escaped patients to prevent potential spread of the disease.
