DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A suspected terrorist was killed in a shootout with security forces in the Kari Malang area of Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said.

The CTD said it conducted a joint operation with local law enforcement agencies and the police to raid a hideout, in the Kari Malang area, of militants allegedly involved in the target killing of an FC official.

“During the exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed while three of his accomplices managed to escape,” it said in a statement.

Extortionist terrorists linked to TTP arrested in Lahore

The Anti-Terrorism Department said it had recovered weapons and explosives from the scene and launched a search operation to arrest the fleeing suspects.

In a separate operation in Peshawar, the CTD said it had arrested four members of the Islamic State militant group from a safe house in the Badhber area.

It said the suspects, who were Afghan nationals, had confessed to their involvement in 10 incidents of target killings and smuggling in the region.
