Sydney Sweeney’s Hollywood Sign stunt could land her in legal trouble

Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney could be facing potential legal trouble after draping the Hollywood Sign with bras during an apparent promotional stunt, according to local authorities and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

The actress, 28, was filmed carrying out the stunt overnight, with footage later obtained and published by TMZ. The video shows Sweeney and a small crew throwing clotheslines of bras over the iconic Hollywood Sign, reportedly to promote her new lingerie brand.

However, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has said the production was not authorised and that no permission was granted to access or use the landmark.

Hollywood Sign owners deny permission

In a statement, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said it owns the intellectual property rights to the Hollywood Sign and that any commercial use requires prior approval.

“The production involving Sydney Sweeney and the Hollywood Sign was not authorised by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, nor did we have prior knowledge of it,” the organisation said.

The Chamber added that no licence or permission had been requested or granted for the stunt and confirmed it is investigating how the site was accessed.

Possible legal implications

The unauthorised access could expose those involved to potential trespassing or vandalism issues, although authorities have not yet taken action.

Los Angeles police confirmed on Monday afternoon that no police report had been filed in connection with the incident.

Sweeney shares video of stunt

Despite the controversy, Sweeney later shared her own video of the stunt on Instagram, linking it to her newly launched lingerie brand, SYRN by Sydney Sweeney.

The bras were reportedly removed shortly after filming wrapped, and no permanent damage to the sign has been reported.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said it is continuing to assess the situation and has not confirmed whether further action will be taken.
