Syed Ali Naseer Rizvi appointed as new IG Islamabad police

ISLAMABAD: Syed Ali Naseer Rizvi has been appointed as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police.
Rizvi, who worked as Deputy Inspector General Operations, Lahore, replaced Dr Akbar Naseer Khan, who has been directed to report to the Establishment Division. Ali Nasir Rizvi also sustained injuries after a scuffle with miscreants during the May 9 incident in Lahore.
Prior to the general election, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had directed the Establishment Division to transfer the deputy commissioner and the inspector general of Islamabad police, however, the government requested to retain both the officers until the elections were held.
According to the notification, Capt (retd) Khurram Agha, a grade-22 officer in the Pakistan Administrative Service, who previously served as secretary of commerce, has been appointed as the interior secretary.
Additionally, Khushhal Khan, a grade-21 officer in the Pakistan Administrative Service, has been assigned the post of additional secretary (Power Division).
Prior to this appointment, Khushhal Khan served as the additional secretary in the Ministry of Interior.
