Syrian FM, Dar vow to expand mutual cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Syrian Foreign Minister Asad Hassan Al-Shaibani on Thursday vowed to further expand bilateral cooperation between the two “brotherly” countries.

Al-Shaibani met with Dar shortly after arriving in Islamabad on an official visit.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said that “DPM Senator Ishaq Dar held a warm and constructive restricted meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani in Islamabad.”

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the close relations between Pakistan and Syria and discussed expanding cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.

“The two leaders pledged to maintain close collaboration and held detailed discussions on the regional situation,” the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Shaibani was welcomed by the Additional Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

According to the FO, the visit will cover all aspects of Pakistan-Syria bilateral relations, joint cooperation, and key regional and global developments. The ministry highlighted the visit as a crucial step toward strengthening diplomatic ties.

Separately, Malaysian Interior Minister Saifuddin Nasution arrived in Pakistan at the invitation of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

He was received by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry.

During his stay, the Malaysian minister will meet top Pakistani leadership to discuss internal security, bilateral ties, and mutual cooperation.
