In the 2026 T20 World Cup, Pakistan just wrapped up their group stage with a win against Namibia on February 18. While the usual big names are struggling, three players have basically dragged the team into the Super Eight.
Here is the story of the three guys actually doing the work
Sahibzada Farhan: one-man army
Farhan isn’t just Pakistan’s best player right now; he’s the top scorer of the entire tournament. Today’s match against Namibia was his masterpiece. He smashed an unbeaten 100 off 58 balls while literally limping because of leg cramps. He’s now only the second Pakistani ever to hit a T20 World Cup ton. With 220 runs in 4 games and a strike rate over 160, he is the only reason Pakistan’s batting looks decent.
Saim Ayub’s bowling performance
Saim’s batting has been a bit of a flop (only 63 runs so far), but he’s basically turned into a prime spinner. He actually hit the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 All-Rounder Rankings today. His 3-25 against India was the highlight of his tournament, and he’s been taking crucial wickets in almost every game. Add his crazy fielding (like that diving catch today), and he’s become the team’s most valuable “utility” player.
Shadab Khan, the clutch finisher
After all the trolling he faced before the World Cup, Shadab is finally showing up. In the Namibia game, he did exactly what an all-rounder should: he smashed 36 off 22 balls* at the end to push the total to 199, and then took 3 wickets to finish the job. While Babar Azam (66 runs total) and others are struggling for rhythm, Shadab is finding his form just in time for the big games.
Pakistan is through, but it’s a weird situation. The “superstars” are quiet, and the team is surviving on Farhan’s runs and Saim’s random bowling brilliance.
