WEB DESK: The second T20 International between Pakistan and South Africa will be played today at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium under tight security arrangements.
According to officials, special police contingents have been deployed in and around the stadium, with strict security checks at all entry and exit points. Lahore’s Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the police are committed to providing a “safe and conducive environment” for the promotion of sports in the city.
Units from the Dolphin Force, Special Protection Unit, and Elite Force will patrol the area to ensure public safety, while a comprehensive traffic management plan has been implemented to maintain smooth vehicular flow during the match.
The third and final T20 of the series will also be held at Gaddafi Stadium on November 1.
Earlier this week, Pakistan suffered a 55-run defeat to South Africa in the first T20I at Rawalpindi, marking a disappointing return for Babar Azam, who was dismissed for a two-ball duck by Corbin Bosch. The dismissal brought Babar level with Shahid Afridi for the most T20I ducks by a Pakistani batter (eight), a record Afridi set in 90 innings compared to Babar’s 122. Captain Agha Salman managed only two runs as Pakistan’s top order collapsed early. Despite brief resistance from Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz, the hosts faltered against disciplined South African bowling and now trail 0–1 in the three-match series.
