Tax returns: FBR warns of hefty penalties after Sept 30 deadline

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday reminded taxpayers that September 30 is the last date for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026, warning that those who fail to meet the deadline could face hefty penalties.

According to FBR sources, taxpayers missing the deadline could face significantly higher penalties from October 1, with individuals potentially facing a penalty of up to Rs25,000, while the penalties for associations of persons and companies could rise to Rs50,000 and Rs100,000, respectively.

The FBR has advised taxpayers to file their returns through its online IRIS system and seek assistance through its helpline or the relevant tax office if they face difficulties.

The FBR helpline can be reached at 051-111-772-772, while assistance is also available through email and its online customer relationship management system.
