Taylor Swift is dropping an ‘Opalite’ music video and fans won’t be able to watch it everywhere

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has confirmed the release of the music video for Opalite, but fans will not be able to watch it everywhere straight away.

The singer revealed the details via a countdown on her website, announcing that the Opalite music video will debut exclusively on Apple Music and Spotify Premium on Friday, February 6 at 8am ET.

Why the Opalite video will not hit YouTube immediately

The music video will remain exclusive to Apple Music and Spotify Premium subscribers until Sunday, February 8 at 8am ET.

Only after that window closes will the video be released publicly on YouTube, a staggered rollout that has already sparked discussion among fans.

The approach mirrors previous releases during Swift’s current Life of a Showgirl era, which has leaned heavily on timed reveals, platform exclusives and controlled drops.

New Opalite vinyl announced alongside the video

Swift also confirmed the release of a limited-edition Opalite blue pearlescent vinyl, now available to preorder through her website.

Preorders will remain open until February 6 at 7pm ET, or until supplies sell out, adding to the sense of urgency around the release.

Opalite continues its chart run

Opalite is the second single from Swift’s album Life of a Showgirl. The track debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and has spent 17 consecutive weeks on the chart, currently sitting at number 10.

Swift released Life of a Showgirl in October, selling 2.7 million copies on its first day and later surpassing Adele’s 25 to become the highest-consuming album in Billboard 200 history.

The album’s lead single, The Fate of Ophelia, became Swift’s 13th number-one hit on the Hot 100 and spent 10 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart.

With an exclusive rollout, a limited vinyl drop and continued chart dominance, Swift’s Opalite era is entering one of its most closely watched moments yet.
