GILGIT: Terrorist Commander Hameed, who was injured during an operation in the Darel area of Diamer district in Gilgit-Baltistan, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Saturday.
Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Badan locality of the sub-division Darel of Diamer district on July 4, killing terrorist commander Shah Faisal, who was involved in the Hudur Bus Attack. Commander Hameed was injured during the operation.
According to sources, as the operation concluded, local people extinguished the fire that erupted in the house where the terrorists were hiding and found Hameed injured. He was later shifted to a hospital in Swat, where he died of his injuries.
A police official in Darel confirmed his death to HUM News English without providing further details. Hameed’s name was not on the list of terrorists involved in last year’s Hudur bus attack, in which at least 12 people were killed and 24 others sustained injuries.
However, according to sources, he was allegedly involved in the burning of schools in Diamer. In 2018, at least 12 schools in the Diamer district, half of which were girls-only, were burned down by unidentified assailants.
