Thieves steal trash bins in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Thieves have stolen trash cans and trash trolleys from various parts of Islamabad in recent weeks, causing difficulties for residents and the city’s sanitation department.

According to the Capital Development Authority (CDA), thieves have made off with more than 60 trash trolleys and bins in just one month. The thefts have occurred in sectors E-11, G-6, Aabpara, Ramna, Shahzad Town, and Sabzi Mandi.

CDA officials believe that the thieves are selling the trash trolleys and bins for scrap metal. The estimated value of the stolen property is in the millions of rupees.

The CDA has lodged cases at various police stations in Islamabad and is collaborating with the police to investigate the thefts and apprehend the suspects.

Separately, there has been a 25 per cent increase in car and motorcycle thefts in Lahore in the past eight months compared to the same period last year. According to police data, a total of 23,909 incidents of motorcycle, car, and vehicle thefts were reported in the last eight months.
