Third quarter: how much has NAB recovered for the national exchequer?


ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) announced record recoveries of Rs1.10 trillion during the third quarter of 2025, reflecting a 242% increase compared to the previous quarter and marking a major boost to the national exchequer’s revenue, according to a statement issued by the bureau.

With this latest figure, NAB’s total recoveries for the first three quarters of 2025 have reached Rs1.649 trillion (Rs1.65 trillion). The bureau said that during this period, 17,194 victims of public fraud cases benefited directly from its efforts.

Among the significant recoveries this quarter, in Karachi, the bureau reclaimed two valuable plots worth Rs2.8 billion in the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) case and handed them back to the authority. NAB Sukkur recovered 361 acres of excess land belonging to the National Highway Authority (NHA), valued at Rs2.5 billion. In a landmark anti-encroachment operation, the bureau retrieved 1.39 million acres of mangrove forest land worth Rs1.104 trillion, bringing the total recovery of forest land to Rs2.59 trillion. Meanwhile, NAB Balochistan recovered 414,036 acres of forest land valued at Rs44.8 billion, and NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reclaimed state land worth Rs3.2 billion, which was subsequently handed over to the Ministry of Industries and Production.

In addition to land and asset recoveries, NAB also facilitated online disbursements for the first time to victims of public fraud, compensating 5,008 affectees of the B4U investment scam. NAB said its ongoing efforts reflect its commitment to protecting public assets, restoring confidence in state institutions, and ensuring that recovered funds are returned to rightful stakeholders.
