Thousands of tons of urea seized: Sarfraz Bugti

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti has said that thousands of tons of urea have been seized in anti-smuggling operations across the country.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he announced a series of measures to combat smuggling and illegal activities in the country. He said that these efforts have proven successful.
“The crackdown on smuggling included actions against sugar, fertilizer, and dollar smuggling. A crackdown has also begun against those involved in hawala transactions and smuggling,” the interim interior minister said.
Bugti emphasized that strict action will be taken against individuals involved in smuggling and hawala transactions. “There will be no leniency towards smugglers.”
He said that the nation has united against terrorism and achieved success, and the country now faces economic challenges, and cooperation from the public is needed.
Bugti stated that individuals involved in hoarding will also face strict consequences.
“The government will promote legal trade in the country. People who provide information about smuggling will be rewarded, and smugglers will not be spared,” Bugti reiterated.
He pointed out that the nation should focus on the present and work together to address challenges. “The caretaker government is committed to working tirelessly to resolve these issues.”
He also mentioned that the Federal Investigation Agency has established a hotline for citizens to report complaints, and they are encouraged to use it.
Top official says smuggling causing sugar price hike in Pakistan
Bugti assured that the government was determined to take these actions against smuggling and hoarding to their logical conclusion.
He emphasized that Pakistan should not dwell on the past, and the government’s focus was on addressing current issues.
The caretaker interior minister mentioned that the government has a limited mandate, and they do not intend to waste it.
Regarding the abducted children, Bugti stated that they were making efforts to recover them through search operations and other means.
He also mentioned the Afghan government’s commitment not to allow its territory to be used for any illegal activities and said that Pakistan would respond strongly to any attack.
