Three slain in alleged ‘honour’ killing in Taxila, suspect at large

HARIPUR: A man allegedly killed three members of his family in a suspected so-called “honour” attack in the Taxila area, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place in Mohalla Mashriq Abadi, where the suspect, identified as Najeebullah, allegedly slit the throats of his wife, son and sister with a sharp-edged weapon, according to police sources.

The victims were identified as Gul Seema, 40, her 26-year-old son Danish Akram, and 23-year-old Shehla Aziz.

Police said that officials reached the scene shortly after being informed, collected evidence and launched an investigation.

The bodies were shifted to a hospital for legal formalities.

The suspect fled the scene and efforts are under way to arrest him, police said.

Initial reports suggested that the killings may have been carried out for “honour”, with the suspect allegedly harbouring suspicions about his wife. However, police said that the exact motive would be determined after the investigation is completed.

A case has been registered at the relevant police station, and further is ongoing, police added.
