Three vessels carrying LPG and coal have docked at Pakistani ports.

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s energy outlook has received a dual boost this week as a series of fuel shipments docked at Port Qasim while a significant new gas reserve was unearthed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Samaa News, authorities confirmed that three vessels carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and coal have anchored in Karachi to shore up national stocks.

Among the arrivals, the PCG Pericles delivered over 3,800 tonnes of LPG from Oman, followed by the Navigator Airis, which arrived from Iraq carrying a substantial 11,136 tonnes.

Beyond these, a coal vessel laden with 52,000 metric tons is already offloading its cargo to support industrial operations and power generation, ensuring the continuity of the country’s overstretched energy supply chain.

Strategic discovery in the tall block

In a separate breakthrough for domestic production, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) announced a major gas discovery in the Kohat district.

The exploratory well, situated in the Tall Block, is projected to produce 26.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.

This project is a joint venture involving heavyweights such as Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), MOL, and Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL).

Officials believe this find will not only narrow the prevailing supply-demand gap but also improve the success rate for future drilling in the region, marking a pivotal step toward long-term energy self-sufficiency.
