Thunderstorms, snowfall forecast across Pakistan on Thursday

WEB DESK: Intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday, with snowfall likely in mountainous regions, according to the latest weather outlook. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that moderate to heavy rain and snowfall may also occur in upper areas during the evening and night.

Going region by region, the PMD said that in Islamabad and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain cloudy, with intermittent rain, gusty winds and thundershowers likely during the afternoon. Heavy rain or hail may occur at a few places later in the evening or at night.

Across Punjab, most districts are expected to experience cold and mostly cloudy conditions. Intermittent rain with strong winds and thundershowers is likely in a large number of areas, including Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, among others. Upper districts may also experience heavy rain or hailstorms. In Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas, partly cloudy and cold conditions are forecast, with intermittent rain or snowfall, strong winds and thundershowers. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall may occur in the evening or night.

In Sindh, partly cloudy and cold weather is expected in most districts, while rain with strong winds and thundershowers is likely in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Hyderabad, Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Thatta and Badin, as well as several other areas.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to see widespread rain with gusty winds and thundershowers in districts including Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan. Heavy rain or hail may occur at some locations, while upper areas could receive moderate to heavy snowfall.

In Balochistan, rain and snowfall accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers are forecast for most districts, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Zhob, Kalat, Gwadar and Turbat. Heavy rain or snowfall is particularly likely in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai and Zhob.

In Kashmir, partly cloudy weather is expected, with intermittent rain or snowfall, strong winds and thundershowers. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall may also occur during this period.

Similarly, Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to experience cloudy conditions with intermittent rain or snowfall, gusty winds and thundershowers. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall is likely in some areas.

Authorities have advised residents, particularly in hilly and mountainous regions, to remain cautious due to the risk of heavy rain, hailstorms and snowfall.
