Tom Heaton Manchester United contract extended but for how long?

English professional footballer Tom Heaton, who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Manchester United, has been granted a contract extension with the club and will continue as part of the squad following the renewal.

With the new agreement, his stay at Manchester United as a squad goalkeeper will continue for one more year, following his role and experience within the team.

He entered the club in 2021 and the renewal comes at a time when his presence is considered valuable as United prepare for a return to the Champions League.

UEFA squad registration rules for the Champions League require clubs naming a 25-man squad to include a number of association-trained and club-trained players.

Heaton, who came through Manchester United’s academy before leaving in 2010 and later returning, qualifies as a club-trained player.

Only Heaton, Luke Shaw and Amad currently meet the club-trained requirement among United’s senior options, while Kobbie Mainoo would be eligible for List B in the 2026-27 season.
