ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, the accountability court, presided over by Judge Muhammad Bashir, rebuffed the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) plea for an extended physical remand of former Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, in the Toshakhana case.

The proceedings took place within the confines of Adiala Jail.

Imran Khan, who had undergone a two-day physical remand, was once again presented before the accountability court for further deliberations. The NAB team apprised the court of the developments that transpired during the recent physical remand, seeking an additional three days for the PTI founder.

However, the court, after careful consideration, dismissed NAB’s request for an extended physical remand and instead gave 14 days judicial remand.

It is worth noting that in the preceding hearing, the accountability court had initially granted a two-day physical remand for the former prime minister, marking a progression in the legal proceedings surrounding the Toshakhana case.

Earlier an accountability court had dismissed the pre-arrest bail plea of Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.

The accountability court’s judge Muhammad Bashir had announced the reserved verdict on Imran Khan’s pre-arrest bail plea in the case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Muzaffar Abbasi said that the PTI founder’s bail petition was rejected.
