Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest: Spurs fail to handle pressure in relegation clash

LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest ended in a damaging 3-0 defeat for Spurs, as assistant coach Bruno Saltor admitted the team could not cope with the pressure of a crucial relegation battle.

The loss leaves Tottenham just one point above the relegation zone, raising serious concerns about their Premier League survival.

Spurs had shown signs of improvement in recent days, earning a hard-fought draw against Liverpool and a spirited win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

However, those positives quickly faded as Nottingham Forest dominated the second half to secure a comfortable victory.

Speaking after the match, Saltor said the players showed effort but failed to manage the “weight of the game,” especially after halftime.

“The first half was really good, but in the second half we were not able to deal with the pressure,” he said.

Tottenham started strongly and looked the better side before conceding, but their collapse after the opening goal exposed ongoing weaknesses.

The defeat also worsened tensions with fans, many of whom left early or voiced frustration after the final whistle. Spurs have managed only two home league wins this season, adding to supporter anger.

Captain Cristian Romero described the result as “painful” and urged unity, saying the team now faces “seven finals” to avoid relegation.

Saltor echoed the message, stressing that the squad must fight until the end of the season to secure Premier League safety.

With their top-flight status now under real threat, Tottenham must quickly recover form or risk ending their long-standing stay in England’s top division.
