Trains operations resume despite PTI protest

ISLAMABAD: Trains operations were restored across the country, with the previous suspension message now considered canceled on Sunday, despite the upcoming nationwide protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Meanwhile, the suspension of mobile data and Wi-Fi services would only be implemented in areas deemed as “security concerns”, while internet and cellular services will continue to operate normally across the rest of Pakistan.

As supporters of imprisoner PTI founder, Imran Khan, prepared for a planned rally on Sunday (today), the capital was completely sealed off.
This marks the second time in recent months that authorities have imposed such measures to prevent large gatherings aimed at demanding the former prime minister’s release.
The nationwide protest coincides with the visit of Belarusian President Lukashenko to Islamabad on Monday.
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) announced the closure of key routes for ‘maintenance’. It advised the pubic to avoid unnecessary travel due to intelligence reports suggesting that ‘angry’ protesters may create a law and order situation.

The NHMP confirmed the closure of major motorways linking the capital with the other regions, including M-1, M-2, M-3. M-4, M-11 and M-14, which went into effect on Friday night.
Similarly, Lahore was cordoned off with authorities erecting double-layered barricades made of shipping containers at major entry and exit points. A heavy police presence could be seen throughout the Walled City to restrict movement.
