WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has launched a fresh attack on major American media outlets amid the ongoing tensions and conflict involving Iran, accusing them of misrepresenting the situation and downplaying Washington’s military strength.
In a lengthy social media post, Trump claimed that even if Iran were to “surrender” completely and acknowledge defeat before the United States, sections of the American media would still portray Tehran as victorious. He specifically targeted outlets including The New York Times, CNN and The Wall Street Journal, calling them “fake news media” and accusing them of losing credibility.
Trump said the US military had severely damaged Iran’s naval and air capabilities, while also alleging that Iranian leadership had been weakened during the conflict. He argued that media organisations were biased against him and would refuse to acknowledge what he described as an American success in the confrontation.

The remarks come as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise, with Trump recently warning that “the clock is ticking” for Iran as diplomatic efforts and nuclear-related negotiations remain stalled.
Trump’s comments have once again deepened the political divide in the United States, with critics accusing him of escalating rhetoric during an already volatile regional conflict.
