Trump claims eight planes were downed during Pakistan-India conflict

Pakistan testing nuclear, says Trump

US President Donald Trump has claimed that eight aircraft were shot down during the Pakistan-India conflict, not six or seven as previously reported.

Speaking at an event in Miami, President Trump said he had read in newspapers that seven or eight planes were downed during the clashes. “One paper said seven planes were shot down and one was damaged,” he said, adding that the actual number was eight.

Trump went on to claim that he personally intervened to stop the conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations. “I stopped the war between Pakistan and India because both are nuclear powers,” he said. “I told both countries that if they didn’t stop the fighting, I would raise tariffs even higher and halt trade.”

The US president also spoke on broader international matters, saying South Africa should not be part of the G20 and that he would not attend a G20 summit hosted there. He added that several countries had joined the Abraham Accords under his leadership and expressed hope that Saudi Arabia would also join the peace deal.

“We are doing good work for peace in the Middle East,” he said.
