Trump hints at ‘naval blockade’ of Hormuz after US-Iran talks collapse

Trump Iran war new speech

US President Donald Trump has amplified pressure on Iran following stalled negotiations by sharing an article by ‘Just the News’ on Truth Social, that outlines a potential naval blockade strategy targeting Tehran’s oil exports.

The post came after high-level talks between the United States and Iran, in Islamabad, ended without an agreement, with Washington presenting what officials described as its “final and best offer.” The article shared by Trump suggests that if Iran refuses the terms, the US could consider imposing a naval blockade in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to intensify economic pressure.

According to the piece, the strategy mirrors tactics previously used by Trump against Venezuela, where a naval blockade significantly weakened the government of Nicolás Maduro by cutting off oil revenues. Analysts cited in the article argue that a similar approach could be deployed against Iran, potentially restricting key crude shipments to major buyers such as China and India.

The report also highlights the growing US naval presence in the region, including the USS Gerald R. Ford and the USS Abraham Lincoln, which are currently positioned in the Persian Gulf. Experts say this buildup could enable Washington to exert significant control over maritime traffic through the narrow waterway.

Negotiations, led in part by Vice President JD Vance, concluded after 21 hours without a breakthrough. Speaking after the talks, Vance said the US had negotiated in good faith but that Iran had yet to meet Washington’s core demand of halting its nuclear weapons development.

With a temporary ceasefire nearing its end, US officials are now weighing multiple options, including military action or economic measures such as a blockade, to increase pressure on Tehran if it rejects the proposed deal.
