Trump pauses strikes on Iranian energy plants as ‘talks go well’

‘Many countries’ will send warships to keep Strait of Hormuz open, claims Trump

WEB DESK: In a statement posted to Truth Social on Thursday, 26 March, the President confirmed that the “period of energy plant destruction” would be suspended until 20:00 Eastern Time on Monday, 6 April 2026.

The move signals a potential de-escalation in a period of intense regional friction, with Trump claiming that diplomatic discussions between the two nations are currently “going very well.”

Despite reports of friction in the negotiating room, the President dismissed such claims as “erroneous statements” by the media, insisting that a breakthrough remains possible during this temporary window of calm, according to Reuters.

Diplomatic window opens amid regional tension

The decision to halt strikes comes directly at the request of the Iranian government, suggesting a shift toward a diplomatic resolution after weeks of targeted attacks on Iran’s power and oil facilities.

While the underlying issues between Washington and Tehran remain complex, this ten-day pause provides a critical breathing space for negotiators to find common ground.

Mr Trump’s assertion that talks are progressing positively stands in contrast to recent portrayals of a stalemate, as he hit out at what he termed “Fake News Media” for misrepresenting the state of play.

All eyes now turn to the 6 April deadline to see if this temporary ceasefire can be converted into a more permanent settlement.
