Trump says Iran talks going well amid rising tensions

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said that talks with Iran are going well, even as tensions continue to rise over the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing diplomatic standoff.

Trump maintained that negotiations with Tehran were progressing despite heightened regional concerns, including security issues linked to key maritime routes. He also indicated that discussions are continuing and further updates could emerge soon.

The US president, however, stressed that Washington is taking a firm stance in the negotiations, insisting that Iran “cannot blackmail” the United States and warning against any attempt to escalate pressure through strategic waterways.

Trump added that talks are ongoing and hinted that more information on the outcome of discussions could be available within hours, while reaffirming a tough position in dealing with Tehran.

The statement comes amid continued diplomatic efforts involving US-Iran contacts and broader regional mediation attempts aimed at preventing further escalation.
