WEB DESK: US President Donald Trump has called on Congress to prioritise the passage of a $350 billion defence package immediately upon the resumption of legislative sessions, terming the measure essential for sustaining the country’s military capabilities, according to Anadolu Agency.
In a statement published on the social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump asserted that the US military “has never been stronger, or more powerful.”

He claimed that recruitment targets had been achieved ahead of schedule and troop morale had reached an all-time high.
“Our military’s unmatched power was on full display during our celebration of 250 years of American independence,” he wrote, adding that the defence apparatus was functioning at an optimal level.
Legislative priorities
Trump pressed leadership in both the House of Representatives and the Senate to fast-track ‘Reconciliation 3.0’, a key budget mechanism that encompasses the $350b defence allocation, alongside the proposed ‘Save America Act’.
“I am calling on House and Senate leadership to make this their number one priority, and ensure that 350 billion dollars in Recon 3.0 moves out of the Budget Committee as soon as Congress is back in session,” the president stated.
Future security
The US president expressed confidence that the concurrent passage of the Save America Act and comprehensive funding for the Department of Defence could be achieved swiftly through bipartisan cooperation.
According to Trump, ensuring these legislative approvals would guarantee that the United States “stays free for generations to come” amid evolving global security challenges.
