Tuesday weather: fog covers plains and chill strengthens in hills

WEB DESK: A spell of cold and dry weather is expected to continue across most parts of the country on Tuesday, with very cold to extremely cold conditions forecast for hilly and northern areas, according to the latest weather outlook by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

In the plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, moderate to heavy fog is likely to develop during the morning and night hours, which may affect visibility and routine travel.

Going region by region, federal capital Islamabad and its surroundings are expected to experience cold and dry weather. However, fog may form at a few places during the morning and night.

Most districts of Punjab will remain cold and dry, while Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas are likely to experience extremely cold and partly cloudy conditions. Moderate to severe fog is expected in several districts, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sialkot, Sahiwal, DG Khan and other central and southern parts of the province during the morning and night.

Cold and dry weather is forecast for most districts of Sindh. Fog is likely to prevail in Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mohenjodaro and nearby areas during early morning and nighttime hours.

Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will remain cold and dry, while hilly areas are expected to experience severe cold. Fog is likely to affect Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat and DI Khan during the morning and night.

In Balochistan, cold and dry conditions are expected across most parts of Balochistan, with extremely cold weather likely in the northern districts, particularly during morning and night hours.

Extremely cold and partly cloudy weather is expected to persist in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Authorities have advised travelers and motorists to exercise caution in fog-prone areas due to reduced visibility.
