Tuesday weather: Pakistan wakes to rain and snow today

WEB DESK: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the rainy weather to continue throughout Tuesday, with rain, snow and thunderstorms affecting several regions, while colder and drier conditions prevailed elsewhere.
According to the PMD forecast, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, northeast Punjab and northeast Balochistan are expected to remain partly cloudy, accompanied by strong winds, thunderstorms and intermittent rain. Snowfall is anticipated in mountainous areas, with heavy rain and moderate to heavy snowfall likely at a few places in Kashmir and upper KP. Other parts of the country are expected to remain cold and dry.
Going region by region, in Islamabad and surrounding areas, partly cloudy conditions with strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast today.
Across Punjab, including Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Gujrat and Gujranwala, partly cloudy weather with strong winds, thunderstorms and intermittent rain is expected, with heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Murree, Galiyat and adjoining areas are forecast to receive intermittent rain along with moderate to heavy snowfall and strong winds, while the rest of the province was expected to remain cold and partly cloudy.
In Sindh, most districts are likely to experience cold and dry weather throughout the day.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, Kurram, Khyber, Hangu, Parachinar, Bajaur, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan are expected to see partly cloudy skies, intermittent rain, strong winds and thundershowers, with snowfall in mountainous regions. Heavy rain and moderate to heavy snowfall are expected at a few places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan and Battagram.
Most districts of Balochistan are expected to remain cold and dry, with extremely cold conditions in the northern parts of the province. However, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is likely at a few places, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Nushki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi and Loralai, with snowfall expected in mountainous areas.
In Kashmir, partly cloudy conditions with strong winds, thunderstorms and intermittent rain and snowfall are forecast. Heavy rain and moderate to heavy snowfall are expected in Neelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli and Jhelum Valley.
Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to remain extremely cold and partly cloudy, with strong winds and thundershowers. Heavy rain and moderate to heavy snowfall are likely in areas such as Astore and Skardu.
Authorities have advised residents in affected regions, particularly mountainous and northern areas, to remain cautious due to the risk of heavy snowfall, strong winds and reduced visibility.
