Two children killed, one injured after toy-like object explodes in Quetta

QUETTA: Two children were killed and another was critically injured after a toy-like object exploded in Quetta’s Killi Mian Khan Jadeed area on Tuesday, police said.

The explosion occurred near Madressah Imdadiya, prompting police and other law enforcement personnel to rush to the scene.

According to police, the children had found a toy-like object outside and brought it home.

The object exploded while they were playing with it, killing two children on the spot and leaving a third critically injured.

The bodies of the deceased and the injured child were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment.

Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) teams also reached the site and launched an investigation.

Police said that BDS personnel were collecting evidence to determine the nature of the explosive device and how it ended up in the area.

Authorities have yet to establish the origin of the object or whether it was an improvised explosive device disguised as a toy.

An investigation is under way.
