ISLAMABAD: Two people were injured in a robbery attempt at Kachnar Park in Sector I-8 late last night, highlighting the rising street crime in Islamabad.
The incident unfolded when armed robbers tried to snatch a mobile phone and purse from a young woman.
Sindh government aims to ‘improve’ security for Chinese nationals
According to police sources, the robbers fired shots after a man intervened to protect the woman. Both sustained gunshot injuries and were quickly shifted to PIMS Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
The I-9 Police Station has begun an investigation and is working to track down the suspects involved.
This incident adds to the recent spike in street crime across the capital. In the last two days four banks have been robbed at gun point.
