Two SHOs among nine police personnel martyred in Ziarat attack

QUETTA: At least nine police personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack in the Kuch Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat district, Balochistan, police officials said on Tuesday.

According to SP Qadoos Dehwar, the attack targeted police personnel and resulted in the martyrdom of nine officers, including two station house officers (SHOs). The slain officers were identified as SHO Mangi Muhammad Hussain and SHO Kaus Sahbat Khan, while the identities of the remaining personnel have not yet been released.

Police said an exchange of fire between security personnel and the attackers had been ongoing since Monday night before the assault claimed the lives of the officers.

Deputy Commissioner Ziarat confirmed that the bodies of the martyred policemen had been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Ziarat.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, and further details were awaited.
