RAWALPINDI: Two women were taken into custody on Friday for hurling egg at Aleema Khan, sister of pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, during her media talk outside Adiala jail.

Police said the women were shifted to the Adiala jail police post following the incident, which briefly caused commotion but was quickly brought under control.

Responding to the episode, Aleema Khan said she was not afraid of such attacks, adding that “we already know who is behind this.”

A spokesperson for Rawalpindi Police said the women involved were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and were affiliated with the PTI.

The incident occurred as members of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance and All Pakistan Clerk Association from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were staging a protest outside the prison.

According to witnesses, the women asked questions, and when they did not receive answers, they hurled eggs.

‘Throwing egg at Aleema Khan shameful act’

Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khawaja Saad Rafique has condemned the attack on Aleema Khan.

“Throwing egg at Aleema Khan is nothing but a shameful and deportable act,” he said in a post on his official Facebook.

Calling it the “outcome of fascist mindset”, the said the incident was likened to past episodes of political intolerance, including the shoe hurled at Nawaz Sharif, ink thrown at Khawaja Asif, and the disturbance outside a London hospital where Begum Kulsoom Nawaz was under treatment.

Rafique was of the opinion that one cannot reap the fruits of an antidote by sowing the seeds of poison. “This behavior must be discouraged, condemned, and resisted at every level.”

Aleema Khan ignores ‘unscripted questions’

Earlier, Aleema Khan had faced tough questions and allegations from media persons after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala.

One reporter accused her and her family of issuing threats and restricting press freedom, claiming warrants had been issued against him for asking questions.

“You say media is not free, but you do not allow questions either,” the journalist remarked, alleging that he and his family had been threatened and that he had evidence to prove it.

Despite repeated questions, Aleema Khan did not respond and left in her vehicle.

Another journalist at the scene alleged that those who asked unscripted questions were later targeted through social media trolling.
