UAE embassy kicks off Ramadan football tournament 2026 in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates Embassy in Islamabad has launched its annual Ramadan Football Tournament 2026, bringing together diplomats, officials, and sports enthusiasts in a vibrant display of unity and sportsmanship.

UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Salem Mohammed Al Zaabi, formally inaugurated the tournament at the embassy’s football ground. The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries, including ambassadors of Kuwait, Lebanon, and Zimbabwe, the Deputy Head of Mission of the United States, senior officials of the Government of Pakistan, members of the diplomatic community, and representatives of the media.

Held during the holy month of Ramadan, the annual event aims to promote not only physical fitness but also cultural exchange and community engagement among participating nations.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Al Zaabi said the importance of maintaining health alongside observing the spiritual benefits of fasting. He noted that the embassy has been organising such football activities for several years, and the tournament has grown into a significant platform for fostering friendship and strengthening ties among different embassies.

The tournament features football teams from various diplomatic missions, reflecting a spirit of unity and cooperation, and offering a unique opportunity for informal interaction beyond official engagements.
