UAE envoy, finance minister agree to boost Pakistan–UAE strategic economic cooperation

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Pakistan Salem Al Zaabi called on Federal Finance Minister Aurangzeb in Islamabad, with both sides agreeing to further strengthen the strategic economic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

Finance minister Aurangzeb welcomed the UAE’s ongoing investments in ports, digital banking, and logistics, saying that Pakistan is committed to expanding its economic cooperation with the Gulf nation, according to the finance Ministry’s statement.

The federal minister highlighted significant opportunities in artificial intelligence, IT, agriculture, and minerals, adding that improved travel facilities will help boost bilateral business ties. The minister also underscored the need to enhance defence cooperation and training exchanges.

Aurangzeb said Pakistan’s economic indicators are on the right directions, adding that foreign exchange reserves are stablizing, inflation declining, and currency gaining strength. The country is moving towards private sector–led growth, he added.

Regarding trade, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to enhance collaboration with the UAE in trade, investment, and tech.

Ambassador Salem Al Zaabi praised the contributions put by Pakistani professionals to the UAE’s development and expressed confidence that the historic ties between the two countries will deepen further.

The UAE is keen to expand its investment footprint in Pakistan, the ambassador added, noting that the UAE is processing 500 Pakistani visas daily, while steps are underway to transition fully towards online and e-visa systems, eliminating traditional passport stamping.

He added that a new UAE Visa Centre in Pakistan would further speed up processing times.
