ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott on Thursday to review bilateral relations and exchange views on rapidly evolving regional developments, particularly recent tensions between the United States and Iran.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, with both sides expressing their commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic and strategic cooperation.

Regional security in focus

Dar briefed Marriott on Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East, stressing Islamabad’s commitment to dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation amid the recent US-Iran crisis. He said Pakistan would continue supporting efforts to prevent further regional instability.

Marriott praised Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and regional stability, acknowledging its constructive diplomatic role during the crisis.

Commitment to stronger ties

In a post on X after the meeting, the British High Commissioner said both countries remained committed to close coordination on issues of mutual interest and regional security.

According to diplomatic sources, the discussions also covered wider Pakistan-UK cooperation, including trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
